    Dear Sir,

I came across this package ( i am new to R, programming and reanalysis data).

I am trying to convert MERRA precipitation data to time series. ( http://goldsmr2.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/dpool/HTTP_DpFileDownloadMERRA.pl?DATASET=MERRA_DP&FCP_DIR=/ftp/private/tmp/&APPLICATION=SUBSET_LATS4D&FILTER=SUBSET_LATS4D&SUB_LONMIN=-63.984&SUB_LONMAX=-52.734&SUB_LATMAX=13.359&SUB_LATMIN=2.813&OUTPUT_FORMAT=NetCDF&LOOKUPID_List=MAT1NXLND&STARTYR=1979&STARTMON=01&STARTDAY=01&ENDYR=1990&ENDMON=12&ENDDAY=31&variable=prectot&amp😉

I believe that this package may help me, but I am trying to download your package RWikience but I cannot locate it on your website.

Your guidance would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

what version of R this package used? I am unable to load it. I looked at Climate Wiki .seems nice.. but how can i get my merra precip in a time series

Would be kind enough to show me how to download merra dataset into a time series using these packages. thank you

        • antoniorrz

The RWikience package works with any R version higher 1.8.0. It should be installed using tutorial at http://www.wikience.org/rwikience-introduction-tutorial/ i.e. download the package onto your computer and specifying the path to it:

          install.packages(“rJava”)
          install.packages(“path to RWikience package tar.gz”)

          • hemant

I followed the tutorial. Below is the code I used

setwd(“C:/Users/H/Downloads”) # set my directory to where the RWikience package was downloaded to

            install.packages(‘rJava’)
            install.packages(‘RWikience_1.1-0.tar.gz’)

However, I got the following error
            Installing package into ‘C:/Users/H/Documents/R/win-library/3.1’
            (as ‘lib’ is unspecified)
            Warning in install.packages :
package ‘RWikience_1.1-0.tar.gz’ is not available (for R version 3.1.2)

            The package is not downloaded

          • antoniorrz

            Try instead

            install.packages(‘C:/Users/H/Downloads/RWikience_1.1-0.tar.gz’)

          • hemant

Hi I tried that but still got the same error (see below)install.packages(‘C:/Users/H/Downloads/RWikience_1.1-0.tar.gz’)
            Installing package into ‘C:/Users/H/Documents/R/win-library/3.1’
            (as ‘lib’ is unspecified)
            Warning in install.packages :
package ‘C:/Users/H/Downloads/RWikience_1.1-0.tar.gz’ is not available (for R version 3.1.2)

          • hemant

I tried the lazy load and that worked. Thanks!. And I followed the tutorial and everything works. However, I still do not understand how to covert my MERRA dataset to a time series . Your guidance would be helpful as i am new to this process

          • antoniorrz

            Dear Hemant,

Climate Wikience contains a subset of all possible data to demonstrate its capabilities. We extend the list of available variables, their spatial and temporal coverage upon the request of our users.

We will freely provide the MERRA precipitation data you specified in your previous comment. It will be available in several days. Keep watching!

          • hemant

Thank you. I am looking for early as possible to current date MERRA precipitation data.

          • hemant

Another question, if I already download the MERRA data, is there any way I can convert it to a Time Series for a particular grid set

          • antoniorrz

Currently time series are accessed by Climate Wikience from a remote location via Internet using ChronoServer http://www.wikience.org/chronosserver/

However, converting to time series already donwloaded data is a good idea for the future.

          • antoniorrz

Thank you again for you interest in Climate Wikience!

The data you need (MERRA Total Precipitation) are now available at Climate Wikience http://www.wikience.org/merra-total-precipitation/

Please, feel free to ask questions!

  • Tom

would like love to explore this package but i cannot find where is to download it ….

    • antoniorrz

Thank you for the interest in RWikience! The download button has got disappeared due to technical reasons. Now it is in place.

  • antoniorrz

Thank you for the interest in RWikience!

The download has been temporarily been unavailable due to technical reasons: I have recently updated the plugin which provides the download button what made all download buttons dissappear throughout the web site. The problem is now fixed and all download buttons are again in place.

Please, feel free to ask questions about RWikience, Climate Wikience or data processing.

I think the file link is broken again. It’s only 10.78 KB…

Thank you for the interest in RWikience!

Currently, 10.78 KB is the correct size for the RWikience package

    ( install.packages(‘C:/Users/Super/Downloads/RWikience_1.1-1.tar.gz’)
    Warning in install.packages :
    ‘lib = “C:/Program Files/R/R-3.2.3/library”‘ is not writable
    Warning in install.packages :
package ‘C:/Users/Super/Downloads/RWikience_1.1-1.tar.gz’ is not available (for R version 3.2.3)

    • antoniorrz

      • Student

Пробовала уже все подряд, и просто install.packages(“”C:/Users/Super/Downloads/RWikience_1.1-1.tar.gz”) и так, как указано вот здесь ( http://www.wikience.org/documentation/rwikience-introduction-tutorial/), но все равно вылазят ошибки.

          • Student

          • antoniorrz

          • Student
